Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.
A life of abundance for every individual
To inspire and empower individuals towards holistic development thus building healthy families and strong communities
In India, 8.4 Crore children do not attend school and 78 lakh children are forced to earn while they learn. The Education of the girl child is most neglected. 53% of girls in India between ages 5-9 are illiterate.
In the last ten years, we have supported the education of over 200 girls; and also a few boys from extreme poverty situations
Once a child is selected into our program, we financially sponsor their education until they complete an undergraduate degree, thus making them eligible to procure a stable job.
We partner with IT Companies, Language Academies and other organizations to provide vocational training in computers, language & other soft skills to the students on our education support program.
We also regularly organize craft, dance & other skill development workshops for them.
Counseling has been a major part of our functioning from the year 2005, when Niriksha was founded. However, in the year 2015, we connected with more counselors and officially organized a Counseling Program to have a more targeted outreach to people in need of help. Most of our clients are women, including young girls and mothers.
On the second Saturday of every month we meet the students on our Education Project in order to build a relationship with them and also teach them lifestyle values.
The values are based on Biblical principles. Last year, we followed the ikids interactive workbook curriculum developed by ikids, the children’s ministry wing of Amazing Love Church, Bangalore. This year we are following the ikids curriculum called “Hello Jesus”.
In addition to this, we connect personally with them to find out how they are progressing in their academics and it is also a time for them to raise issues or concerns with us.
(Once every 3 months)
We meet the mothers of the students on the Niriksha Education Project once in every three months. This helps us keep the line of communication open and also serves as a support group for the mothers who face similar challenges.
We also regularly organize workshops and seminars for the mothers on important topics like family, health and finance.
Every year, during the month of December, we organize a Niriksha Christmas Program. We celebrate Christmas with the Niriksha girls and their families. We bless them with special Christmas presents every year.
The students are encouraged to come along with their families (parents, siblings and grandparents) once every year. This is a time when the students perform cultural activities for their parents (dance/drama) all centered around a gospel theme. The themes usually reflect the message of Christmas. One year our theme was “Light”. All the dances and drama were based on the message of how ‘Jesus is the light of the world’. Last year, the theme was “Gift” in order to talk about how according to John 3:16, God the Father gave us Jesus – as the best gift that we could ever receive in our lives.
The students’ performance is followed by a sermon time where a guest speaker powerfully shares the gospel with the audience in Kannada (their local language). It is a great opportunity for us to touch the families of the Niriksha girls with the message of the gospel.
It is also an exciting time for the family to see the growth and all- round development of their child. It also gives our staff the chance to meet personally and get to know our students’ families
Every year we organize a summer camp during the month of May. This is primarily for the students on our educational project but it is also open to their friends and peers. We have about 50-100 students who attend this camp every year.
It is a three-day long camp. Every year we have a new theme such as Identity, Freedom, etc. The students are engaged with interesting sessions that include value impartation, crafts, out-door activities, music, etc.
It is a great time for the students to unwind after a long academic year at school. The sessions are really powerful and many children have encountered Christ during these summer camps.
For those children and their families that encounter Jesus through Niriksha and are interested in knowing more about Him, we connect them to a local church – Amazing Love Church, Bangalore. This is a great place where they can be further mentored to grow in their walk with Jesus.
